I’ve long wanted to speak with Laurel Khoo, the owner of Rida Video Centre. Movies have played a significant role in my life, shaping my journey into the video industry. As an avid physical disc collector, I understand the convenience of streaming platforms, but nothing quite compares to watching crystal clear visuals on a large screen, with uninterrupted sound, free from the unpredictability of WiFi. With Rida Video Centre, founded in 1985, coming to the end of its chapter, I took the opportunity to sit down with her for a short, personal interview. She spoke about the rise of streaming platforms, and more importantly, what watching a film truly means to her.
